Drawing on decades of experience designing and manufacturing spreader rollers, bow (banana) rollers, spiral expanders, slat expanders, Polyband® expanders, and turning bar assemblies, Menzel delivers complete guiding solutions tailored to demanding web processes.
From simple edge correction to precise centerline guiding, Menzel systems integrate seamlessly into coating lines, finishing ranges, inspection machines, and winding systems to keep webs running straight and under control.
Roll Guiders
Automatic Edge Guiding for Finishing Ranges
Menzel Roll Guiders are designed to keep webs running straight through the finishing range, ensuring even winding and consistent product quality. Two primary types are available:
- Oscillating Roll Guider – hydraulically powered, ideal for many standard guiding applications
- Positive Displacement Guider – for applications requiring more aggressive or precise correction
Both systems use photo‑electric edge sensing to maintain accurate web position and can be adapted to suit different web widths, materials, and line layouts.
Optional Features
- Cork roll covering for more positive web contact and improved guiding
- Type 304 stainless‑steel rolls for wet or damp fabric applications
- Hand‑operated width adjustment screw for positioning the edge sensor in place of the standard tube‑type bracket
- Automatic guider centering at machine stop, plus manual jog pushbuttons for fine positioning
- Dual‑sensor centerline guiding to keep the web centered in the process rather than guiding to one edge
Integrated Web Guiding Solutions

• Spreader rollers, bow rollers, spiral expanders, slat expanders, and Polyband® expanders for wrinkle removal and width control

- Rectangular steel roll arms with pivot shafts for smooth swiveling motion
- Steel guide rolls with internal ball bearings for reliable, low‑friction web support
- Photo‑electric edge sensing head with support bracket and cord connection to a solid‑state control panel
- Hydraulic cylinder to swivel the rolls, powered by a ½ HP AC motor
