Selvage build-up has been a web handling problem from the beginning. Winding the web on a core was accomplished with little difficulty. Even keeping the web straight on the core has been addressed satisfactorily. However, until Menzel introduced the Oscillating Roll, webs with thick selvage presented a real problem.

Standard Features:

Construction consists of a roll, with hardened shafts sliding in precision ball bushings, supported by heavy-duty pillow block bearings for smooth operation.
A gear reducer with an adjustable stroke cam and arm generates and oscillating movement of the roll. The web oscillates with the roll to offset the web, avoiding selvage build-up. This keeps the entire web flat and even during the winding process. Without the Oscillating Roll, the web would be thicker on the two edges leaving slack int he middle and creases along the selvage.
Roll oscillation is adjustable in three 1/4" increments of 1/2", 3/4", and 1", allowing for different selvage widths.
Standard roll surface is a cork rubber compound for enhanced traction and long wear.

Optional Features:

A stainless steel roll can be specified for wet applications.
Various roll coverings are available to fit customer specifications.
Long stroke model is adjustable in four 1/2" increments of 1-1/2", 2", 2-1/2" and 3" for wider selvage applications.
